India is facing severe heatwave conditions, with 95 of the world’s 100 hottest cities currently located in the country. Temperatures across several regions have crossed 40°C, with some areas nearing 45°C, indicating an early and intense summer.
Major cities like Delhi, Lucknow, Nagpur, Akola, Bhubaneswar, and Bhopal are experiencing unusually high temperatures, raising concerns over public health. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued advisories, warning people to take precautions against heat-related illnesses such as heatstroke.
The IMD forecasts continued heatwave conditions in northwest and central India for the next few days, including regions like Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi.
Hot and humid conditions are also expected in parts of Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal, along with warm nights in several northern and central states. Meanwhile, heavy rainfall is predicted in isolated areas of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya.
