Nitin Gadkari Unveils Indigenous Ethanol-Based Cooking Stove Technology

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has unveiled an indigenously developed ethanol-based cooking stove technology, claiming it could offer a cheaper alternative to commercial LPG cylinders. Speaking at an event in Nagpur, Gadkari said the stove produces an effective cooking flame by mixing 7 percent ethanol with water.

The minister highlighted that the technology has been fully developed in India and supports the country’s push towards clean and affordable energy solutions. He also announced a new ₹40 crore initiative aimed at promoting scientific interest among children and youth.

A strong advocate of ethanol, Gadkari said the innovation could help reduce India’s dependence on fossil fuel imports while boosting farmers’ income. India currently imports nearly 87 percent of its crude oil requirements, while ethanol blending in petrol has increased from 1.53 percent in 2014 to a targeted 20 percent by 2025.

If commercialised on a large scale, the ethanol stove could provide millions of households with a low-cost and eco-friendly cooking alternative. Source:News On Air
