Iran Says It Has ‘No Trust’ in US as Peace Talks Remain Stalled

Tensions between Iran and the United States remain high as Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said Tehran has “no trust” in Washington and will engage in negotiations only if the U.S. shows seriousness toward diplomacy.

Speaking in New Delhi during the BRICS foreign ministers’ meeting, Araqchi said all vessels except those involved in conflict with Iran could pass through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, provided they coordinate with the Iranian navy. He described the situation around the key global oil route as “very complicated.”

Although a ceasefire between Iran, the U.S., and Israel was announced last month, talks on a permanent peace agreement remain stalled after both sides rejected recent proposals. Pakistan-mediated negotiations are facing difficulties, according to Iran.

Araqchi said Iran wants to preserve the ceasefire to allow diplomacy a chance but warned that Tehran remains prepared to resume fighting if necessary. Source DD News
