Iran has stated that it will not impose tolls on ships passing through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, though it may charge reasonable fees for services provided in the region. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said Tehran remains in contact with countries around the strait to ensure regional security and stability.
Speaking during a press conference, Baghaei said ongoing discussions with the United States are currently focused on ending regional conflicts rather than Iran’s nuclear programme. He added that there are “no guarantees” regarding US commitments and expressed concern that Israel could attempt to disrupt the negotiations.
Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio hinted that significant developments could emerge soon from the ongoing talks. Rubio said Washington has proposed opening the Strait of Hormuz and holding serious negotiations on Iran’s nuclear activities within a defined timeframe. Source: DD News
