Field operations for the Houselisting and Housing Census (Phase 1 of Census 2027) have kicked off in Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. Trained enumerators will conduct house-to-house visits until the 30th of this month.
Meanwhile, the Self-Enumeration facility has commenced in Delhi (Municipal Corporation area), Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, and Jharkhand, remaining open until May 15th, followed by house-to-house operations from May 16th to June 14th.
Introduced for the first time in Census 2027, the online Self-Enumeration portal (se.census.gov.in) has already seen around 82 lakh households participate, marking a significant step in digitising India’s census operations.
