
Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to New Delhi after concluding his visit to Italy, the final leg of his five-nation tour. During the visit, India and Italy elevated their relationship to a Special Strategic Partnership, marking a major boost in bilateral cooperation.
The two countries signed agreements in sectors including agriculture, critical minerals, Ayurveda, science and technology, and mobility of Indian nurses to Italy. Both sides also signed MoUs aimed at combating tax crimes, money laundering, and terror financing.
In a joint statement with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Mr Modi said India and Italy would work together on the principle of “Design and Develop in India and Italy, Deliver for the World.” He highlighted cooperation in defence production, shipping, logistics, ports modernisation, and the blue economy.
The leaders also discussed global issues, including Ukraine and West Asia, stressing dialogue and diplomacy as the path to peace.
During the visit, Mr Modi also met Italian President Sergio Mattarella and received the UN Agricola Medal at the FAO headquarters in Rome.
