Delhi Government Pushes Fuel Conservation and Public Transport Drive

Rekha Gupta on Tuesday said the Delhi government is committed to promoting fuel conservation and encouraging greater use of public transport following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for energy-saving measures.

In a post on X, Gupta announced that the use of official vehicles across government departments would be restricted. Ministers, MLAs, officers, and staff have been encouraged to use fewer vehicles, adopt carpooling, and prefer public transport whenever possible. She also appealed to Delhi residents to support the nationwide campaign for energy conservation.

Last week, PM Modi urged citizens to reduce non-essential consumption, use public transport, adopt electric vehicles, and promote domestic tourism to reduce fuel dependency and foreign exchange outflow. He also highlighted the importance of sustainable practices, including natural farming, for long-term growth.
