
Jitendra Singh inaugurated Vigyan TECH 2026 at the National Institute of Immunology in New Delhi, highlighting India’s rapid transformation into a global innovation and technology hub. Addressing the National Technology Day event, Singh said India’s startup ecosystem has grown from around 400 startups in 2014 to over two lakh today, making it the world’s third-largest startup ecosystem.
He also noted India’s rise in the Global Innovation Index from 80th to 38th position and said the country now ranks sixth globally in annual patent filings. The event, themed “Building India’s Innovation Ecosystem for Viksit Bharat,” showcased indigenous technologies from multiple ministries and institutions. A technology compendium titled “TECH-Sangrah” was also released, featuring innovations in food processing, healthcare, agriculture, and sustainability aimed at supporting India’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.
