The Centre has notified the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, 2025 (VB-G RAM G), which will replace the 20-year-old MGNREGA. The new Act, set to be implemented nationwide from July 1, guarantees 125 days of wage employment to rural households annually.
The government has allocated ₹95,692 crore for its rollout this financial year. The Act also focuses on timely wage payments, unemployment allowance, and introduces childcare support at worksites to boost women’s participation.
