Tehran demanded an end to the war, lifting of the US maritime blockade, and restoration of normal shipping. The resolution, supported by the US and several Gulf nations, aims to protect freedom of navigation in the critical energy route.
Both sides have reported attacks on vessels and military targets. An Indian crew member was killed in the incidents. Despite the tensions, a 14-point framework for pausing hostilities and negotiations remains on the table.
