AIADMK Split Ahead of Tamil Nadu Floor Test Boosts TVK Government

Tamil Nadu politics witnessed major turmoil ahead of the crucial floor test for the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam Government led by Joseph Vijay. The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam has split into two factions over support to the new government. Former Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami directed party MLAs not to back the TVK Government, warning of strict action against violators.

However, a breakaway AIADMK faction led by S. P. Velumani announced support for the government, claiming backing from 30 MLAs. The TVK Government also secured support from expelled AMMK MLA S. Kamaraj. With allies and rebel AIADMK MLAs, the government is expected to gain support from nearly 150 MLAs during the Assembly trust vote.
